Transcript of Use of Full Spectrum Lamps Video

NARRATOR: A woman is playing cards under a lamp.

BRYAN: Full spectrum lamps mimic natural sunlight, and they produce high brightness and provide even and cool illumination. It’s wonderful for color matching, such as for quilting, painting, identifying playing cards and picking out a particular color of card, identifying photographs and seeing the colors vividly, and for other tasks where color matching is important. However, because full spectrum lamps have some blue light, which is the shortwave length of the light spectrum, and some research has shown that blue light may be tied to macular degeneration, they’re concerned that extended use of a full spectrum lamp, or natural sunlight, may be harmful.
