Brief Description

The mission of the Lighthouse for the Blind is to assist individuals who are legally blind to maintain dignity and independence by making available employment, education, and support services.

Since 1940, the Lighthouse has supplied a variety of goods and services to the Federal Government. They currently operate two manufacturing facilities and have extensive lab facilities and an experienced technical staff that develops, formulates, and produces new products.

Lighthouse for the Blind offers "See the Future" outreach programs
to provide assistance to children and students in areas of technology adaptations, activities of daily living skill development, scholarships to educational and recreational camps and a mobile low vision clinic. These programs are available for those that are blind, legally blind, visually impaired and function at the definition of blindness (FDB). FDB is defined as indicating blindness due to brain injury or disfunction. An Optometrist or Ophthalmologist must confirm all vision impairments

    • Offers consultation services.

  • Low Vision Services
    • Low Vision Aid Program- The Low Vision Aid program is a need based program for adults who are visually impaired and want to obtain financial assistance to purchase a CCTV or Handheld Video Magnifier.

  • Employment/Job Training
    • Offers employment to individuals that are legally blind. Manufactures and sells products in first aid kits, aerosol paints, pressurized air dusters, dog repellant, Quake Care and Tear Mender.Products are for sale online. Our goal is to continuously search for, hire, develop, motivate, challenge, promote, and retain excellent talent.
