Brief Description

The Federation for Children with Special Needs is the Massachusetts Parent Training and Information Center for special education. Other services include support for access to healthcare services, transition to adult services and family engagement in public schools.

Services Offered

  • Information and Referral
    • The Parent Consultant Training Institute (PCTI) is an initiative operated within our Parent Training and Information Center. PCTI intensive training program designed to provide parents and professionals with a solid foundation in special education laws, procedures, and related subjects over 40-54 hours of classroom instruction. Presenters include Federation staff, attorneys, and experts in the field of special education, representatives from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA), among others. Upon completion of the classroom component, students participate in an optional internship program.
