When we are not only parents but also children of aging parents, we find ourselves in a stressful time in life. Those of us who face the demands of caregiving for our parents and still support our own offspring are known as the sandwich generation. In addition to the challenges of long distances, limited funds, not enough help from siblings, and/or uncooperative parents who are not accepting the fact of their frailty, we, as adults who are blind or visually impaired, have the extra challenge of putting our vision problems aside to handle this stage in our lives.

VisionAware peer advisors offer their individual perspectives and experiences in an effort to support and encourage one another as we rise to the challenges of being in the sandwich generation.
