Accessing Electronic Information Using Screen Magnification Software
Screen magnification software allows the user to enlarge text and graphical information displayed on the screen. This software is available free or as shareware. The Windows 98 and higher operating systems offer a screen magnification program called Magnifier as part of the Windows Accessibility options. However, the use of screen magnification software requires learner training provided by the rehabilitation services system.
Inexpensive screen magnification programs are useful for some people but do not offer many of the features needed by other employees. More expensive, commercially available screen magnification programs provide the user with numerous features that enhance their ability to access electronic information. Most employees who need these more advanced features will have received appropriate training through the rehabilitation services system.
