By Maribel Steel, International Agency of the Month Correspondent and Peer Advisor UN flag unfurled The work of VisionAware is extending its reach as an international hub of support and information for people who are blind or visually impaired. With the increasing interest from a world-wide readership looking to VisionAware as a resource of information outside the United States, we are launching the “International Agency of the Month.” This feature will showcase one organization regularly to highlight the services and programs that agencies provide throughout the world to people who are blind or visually impaired. Our aim is to create opportunities to those new to vision loss and a focal point of information and resources relevant within other countries that can link to a wider network of emotional and practical support. Being “VisionAware” is our commitment to a global community sharing the vision of creating a better world for one another. If you would like to nominate an organization or agency working with the blindness community outside the United States, please contact us at connectcenter@aph.org.
