Brief Description
The American Diabetes Association is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. Founded in 1940 by a group of 12 physicians, ADA's first president was Cecil Striker (1940-1941). ADA was reorganized in 1969 to increase its ability to serve the public. Today, the American Diabetes Association conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching more than 800 communities.
