Brief Description

Radio Eye, Inc. is a volunteer-based Radio Reading Service in Lexington, Kentucky. It has been in continuous operation since it was founded in 1990 by Dr. Alfred Crabb. Radio Eye broadcasts live and recorded readings of newspapers and other printed material to people who are blind, visually impaired, or physically handicapped, or those with reading problems due to the natural aging process, surgery, or injury.

The service is provided free of charge, and the closed-circuit radio broadcast can be heard 24 hours a day, every day throughout the year. Listeners tune in on a Sub-Carrier Authorization (SCA) radio, which is loaned to eligible individuals free of charge. Each day, Radio Eye airs locally produced programming in which volunteers read state, regional and national newspapers including the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Courier-Journal of Louisville.     • Broadcasting throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana, Radio Eye provides its listeners with free radios on which they may hear the free 24-hour program schedule including the reading of of newspapers, magazines and other current literature. verbatim reading of dozens of publications. Emphasis is placed on state, regional and local publications. Radio Eye can be heard in private homes via special radio receivers, using an internet radio, toll free telephone number that links directly to our broadcast, on NFB-Newsline's telephone service, online at www.radioeye.org, in several group homes and hospitals in Central Kentucky and Louisville, on cable TV in Frankfort and Lexington, and on the iBlink Radio app for iPhone and Google smartphones.
