Brief Description
KSB, a division of the Kentucky Department of Education, provides a variety of educational programs, specialized materials, and resources for Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired. KSB has many options to meet the diverse needs of students who are blind and visually impaired through on-campus programs at KSB or indirectly through Outreach Services.
Services Offered
- Consultation/Technical Program Assistance
- Provides consultation, technical assistance, and educational assessments for local schools in Kentucky. KSB Outreach Services through the Kentucky Instructional and Diagnostic Services (KIDS) support proficient student performance by assisting local school districts, including KSB/D, in reducing barriers to learning associated with a vision loss and providing students access to the general curriculum, the Program of Studies, Core Content, and Expanded Core Curriculum for Students with Visual Impairments.
Working with the regional consultants, KSB Outreach Early Childhood Coordinator provides consultations and assessments and other forms of technical assistance to districts and families for children between the ages of three to five. Training for early childhood service providers, PREVIEW Institute, is held annually on the campus of KSB. - Professional Training
- Offers fieldwork opportunities and training opportunities for personnel work, with children birth-5 years of age.
