Brief Description

The Mississippi Library Commission serves as a free public library service for eligible Mississippi residents who are unable to read standard print due to a visual, physical or organic reading disability and for institutions which serve these eligible individuals (schools, hospitals, living facilities, etc.) Serves as the Mississippi Regional Library for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress. Provides descriptive video service to eligible Alabama residents.

Services Offered

  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books, talking book players, digital books, descriptive videos, large-print books, and locally produced audiocassettes for people with visual impairments, physical limitations, and reading disabilities from an organic dysfunction. Also serves institutions (with eligible individuals) including libraries, schools, senior citizen centers, military retirement homes, adult daycare centers, children's daycare facilities, nursing homes, senior retirement centers. Provides descriptive video service to eligible residents of Alabama.
